S8x11: "Beyond Repair"by Trinity

Original Air Date: January 10, 2002

The scene opens with Sandy (in white tank top, plaid boxers, and bare feet) just finishing filling a kettle at the sink in her kitchen. She slaps the lid on the kettle, takes a couple of steps over to her stove, and bends down to turn on the gas. Then she slaps her hands together and dashes for the warmth of her bed. The bed is only a couple of steps from the stove - appears to be like a foldout in the living room of a small apartment.

When she jumps into the bed, shivers, and skooches over to the other side, whose head should pop up with a shriek? Kerry's, of course! "Oh! Oh, your feet are like ice!" Sandy says, "I'm sorry. I put on some coffee." Kerry lays her head back down with a small laugh, and they move to get comfortable. Then (patting down the covers so we can see Kerry better) Sandy leans up on her right elbow to look down at Kerry as Kerry asks, "What time is it?" Sandy replies, "it's about seven thirty. Did you sleep okay?"

Kerry turns to look at her and says "Yeah, 'n you?" Sandy responds with a "hm", and then a big grin as she says, "Except for the snoring!" Kerry's eyebrows go up as she closes her eyes and says, "I don't snore". Sandy drops back off her elbow, laughing, "Aw, yeah, right! Like a truck-driver!" Kerry giggles and protests, "I DON'T SNORE!" as Sandy starts with loud snoring noises. She carries on and, laughing, Kerry says, "Stop it!". Sandy doesn't, of course. Kerry reaches back for her pillow, “OK”, and jams it over a protesting Sandy's face. We hear major giggles, "Oh, no" from Sandy, and as she extricates herself from the pillow - "wait a...." and she dives on top of Kerry. It looks like a kiss is coming amidst the laughter and rolling around, but unfortunately, as Sandy buries her face in Kerry's neck, she pulls the covers over them both, and we're left with nothing more but our own imaginations! A really fun scene with both women obviously enjoying each other!

Later, we see them walking together in the concession area at a hockey game. Kerry is looking absolutely radiant (in mauve turtleneck sweater and much-maligned Paddington coat, which I, btw, love! Sandy, curls free, in a black jacket with white cable-knit sweater) as she and Sandy talk light-heartedly about hockey. Kerry is saying "...I think I get it, although that little puck is…it's hard to keep track of. They should give it a color so your eye can follow." Sandy says, "What? The puck?" and as Kerry answers with "Yes, I mean like bright pink or red, or flashing lights or something (maybe Fox network consulted Kerry a few years back when they put a blue comet tail on the puck!) Sandy rolls her eyes, chuckles and says with a “good grief!" look on her face, "Okay, a flashing pink puck!" Kerry laughs and says, "Why not...."

Suddenly Kerry's face changes from a radiant smile to a look of chagrin as she sees Malik and Susan coming their way. When Kerry abruptly turns aside to face away from the two approaching Sandy realizes something has upset her, "Hey, hey, what's wrong?" Kerry replies, "Uh, nothing" as she tries to be invisible and we see Susan and Malik pass behind them, oblivious to their presence. By now Sandy is beginning to suspect the real reason behind Kerry's sudden move as she looks over to see what Kerry is obviously avoiding. She works her way around to face Kerry as Kerry glances up to check that Malik and Susan are safely past. Kerry starts to move again, "Maybe I just need some fresh air."

As Sandy realizes her suspicion is right, her face registers major disapproval, and she again moves in front to face Kerry and confronts her with…"Ho, ho, wait a minute. You're not out! Huh! Who are you hiding from?" Kerry gets this "Geez!" look on her face and says (like it's a silly accusation) "I'm NOT hiding!" As Kerry moves to continue on, Sandy puts her hand on Kerry's sleeve to stop her from walking away from the issue, turns to face Kerry again, and accuses, "Wait a minute; then what the heck was that? You don't want your friends to see us together?" With a "I don't want to be overheard or have a scene in public" look on her face and tone of voice, Kerry rolls her eyes denying softly "They're not my friends." and tries to walk on again. Though we can't actually see it, Sandy, disappointed and angry by now, puts out a hand to stop Kerry again and gets in Kerry's face with "How do you think that makes me feel?"

Kerry drops her eyes and says softly, "I'm sorry". But Sandy will not be appeased and goes on aggressively, "YOU came on to me! You're not out!" Sotto voice again, Kerry tries to justify with…"I am not out at work." To which Sandy replies, "Well, you need to be!" Still terribly conscious of the public situation they're in, Kerry very softly appeals again with…"Sandy..." Hurt and disappointed Sandy holds both hands up in a write-off gesture, then points with both and says, "I'm sorry... I don't got time for this!", wheels and walks away. The last we see is Kerry standing alone, looking after Sandy like she's about break into tears.
